The flooding across Pakistan continues to gather momentum affecting 20 million people in an inundation that covers 20% of the country. 3.5 million children are in desperate need of food and medication to fend of malnutrition and water-borne diseases.

Humanity First Pakistan is working across the country in the districts of Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyia, Jacobabad, Jhang as well as in Austa Muhammad (Balochistan), Nowshera, Swat and Akora Khattak.

HF has sent 500 tents, 600 water survival boxes, weekly food rations for over 500 families, hundreds of blankets and other supplies. In addition, many other shipments are on their way from the UK and Germany of additional tents, 10,000 cholera kits, 10,500 blankets, 1 million water purification tablets and 2,500 life straws.

A medical team on the ground continues to run several camps a week manned by 2 or 3 doctors. So far, the team has treated over 3,000 patients. Over $400,000 of aid has been delivered by HF and its partners such as various charities run by Rotary, Ace Taxis and Apotheker Helfen e.V.

Humanity First Pakistan is working in the North-West areas, Punjab and Sindh and has a large team of volunteers on the ground. HF has dispatched over 500 family tents, crates of blankets, boxes of household supplies including buckets, sheets and shoes, and a range of surgical supplies.

350 water survival boxes provided by Rotary charity WorldWaterWorks in the UK have been dispatched to various affected areas. In Germany, another partner has donated items worth over $40k including 1 million water purification tablets, 10,000 cholera kits and 200 blankets. Other partners have been approaching HF about providing goods or services in kind in a fantastic spirit and we thank them all.

Aid consignments have been sent to Dera Ismail Khan, Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pabbi and Muzaffargarh. Two truck-loads of food rations for 400 families have already been distributed in DG Khan and Rajanpur. HF PK is planning to provide weekly food parcels for 3,000 people for the next 3 months.

A team of local HF doctors has also been running medical camps. The serious threat is the spread of cholera, malaria, diarrhea and other diseases such as dengue fever, measles, polio and scabies. Our medical team is already treating minor injuries and illness, but we are planning to distribute malaria nets, cholera kits and water treatment kits. The initial response package is for 10,000 people.

Humanity First Pakistan is working around the clock with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) in the north-west areas, and directly in Punjab and Sindh. HF has dispatched over 500 family tents, crates of blankets, boxes of household supplies including buckets, sheets and shoes, and a range of surgical supplies.

350 water survival boxes provided by Rotary charity WorldWaterWorks in the UK are being dispatched to various affected areas. Each aqua box contains water filtration as well as essential survival kits including tools, buckets, filters, sanitary kits, torches, towels and cutlery. These items help a family to re-establish themselves in temporary shelter when they have lost all of their possessions. The HFPK team is training villagers on the use of equipment in the boxes. Reports from the delivery team that went to Taru Jabba towards Peshawar suggested that flood marks could be seen to a height of 14 feet, and all of the local houses were turned to rubble.

Earlier, aid consignments were sent to Dera Ismail Khan, Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pabbi and Muzaffargarh. The local team is also preparing packs of non-perishable food to last a month for displaced families. Two truck-loads of food rations for 400 families have already been distributed. HF PK is planning to provide weekly food parcels for 550 families (3,000 people approx) for the next 3 months in Punjab, Sindh and the north-west.

A team of HF doctors has also been active doing 3 medical camps each seeing on average 200 patients a day. The serious threat is the spread of cholera, malaria, diarrhea and other diseases such as dengue fever, measles, polio and scabies. Already 36,000 cases of diarrhea are reported, and this is backed-up by the experiences of our team. Our medical team is already treating minor injuries and illness, but we are planning to distribute malaria nets, water treatment kits and medical prevention kits.

The initial response package is for around 10,000 people, but the scale of the response is increasing. The rehabilitation phase will include deployment of water hand-pumps and secure shelter over the next 6 months.

Humanity First Pakistan is working around the clock with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and has now dispatched over 430 family tents, blankets, boxes of household supplies including buckets, sheets and shoes, and a range of surgical supplies.

The 200 water survival boxes provided by Rotary charity WorldWaterWorks arrived in Islamabad on 11 August, and 57 were shipped to Pabbi in Nowshera District.

Earlier consignments were sent to Dera Ismail Khan, Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan and Muzaffargarh. The first consignment to Dera Ismael Khan arrived on 9 August and was distributed to refugees in a number of villages including Bhirky, UC Paroa, Gara Rashid and Shor Kot.

The flooding across Pakistan is increasing day by day. 14 million people are now affected with at least 1,600 killed. Of these, 6 million are in urgent need of food and many haven’t eaten for 10 days. The affected areas run from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the north to Sindh in the south in a region over 650 miles long. Over 302,000 homes have been destroyed. Many of the mountain regions are totally cut off by road, and only the occasional army helicopter is able to get through. According to the latest UN briefing, affected people are distributed as follows: Punjab (8 million), Khyber Pakhthunkhwa (4.7 million), Sindh (1 million), Balochistan (273,000), other (32,000).

The recent heavy monsoon rains since the end of July in Pakistan have led to widespread flooding on a scale not seen for over 80 years. So far, over 10 million people have been affected and at least 1,600 have been killed. The main affected areas are in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Punjab provinces, with swollen floodwaters now affecting Sindh. Almost half of the country is now affected with reports suggesting that 252,000 houses have been destroyed or badly damaged. One of HF Pakistan’s doctors on the scene reported today that “the magnitude of devastation is unprecendented. Nearly half of the country is wiped out in one form or another … physically, financially or mentally.”

Humanity First Pakistan is working with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and has so far dispatched over 175 tents as well as mattresses, blankets, floor mats, buckets and shoes to support emergency shelter via Islamabad. Over 200 water survival boxes have been provided by Rotary charity WorldWaterWorks and have been dispatched from the UK. The consignments are going to Dera Ismail Khan and Muzaffargarh near Multan. The local team is also preparing packs of non-perishable food to last a month for 1,000 families. The initial response package is for around 6,000 people, but it is expected that the scale of the reponse will need to increase in the next few days.
