Situation
In August 2004, Florida was once again hit
by a severe Hurricane named Charlie, but
this was particularly strong and hit many
coastal areas. Hundreds of thousands of
local residents were affected and had property
damaged as well as sustaining injuries.
Response
The HF team jump started a relief operation
partnering with Volunteers of America around
communities such as Punto Gorda, one of
the hardest hit local towns. The team did
an assessment and then rapidly began the
deployment of aid in terms of daily supplies
of food, medicine, diapers and other household
items.
